This one-day course with professional stone setter Stephen Barnett, focuses on setting round stones into both rub-over and claw settings. Stephen explains the theory behind the techniques and gives extensive handouts for you to take away from the course for future use. By the end of the day, students will go home with the knowledge and confidence to be able to set round faceted stones to a professional standard using both burrs and traditional scorpers.

The rub-over collet is mounted on a cast ring, the claw set collet is cast with jump rings attached, so it can be finished off into a pendant after the course. Students have the option to order additional castings or tools at the end of the course.

Use of all tools, consumables, silver castings and CZ gemstones are included in the course fee.
Suitable for experienced jewellery students only.

An ideal next step after this course would be Stephen’s course on the setting of squares stones.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided, please bring your own packed lunch.

Please note this course focuses on the setting of stones only, using pre-made collets.
