Ready to take your stone setting to the next level? In this class we'll be exploring professional techniques for creating dazzling fields of pavé from scratch — one of the most sought-after and eye-catching styles of stone setting there is.

This is a perfect follow-on from our grain setting class, building beautifully on those foundations, although you don't need to have done grain setting first to join us here.

Beyond the wow factor, pavé setting is brilliant for sharpening your fine stone setting skills and really honing your accuracy with both pendant motors and scorpers. Over the day we'll cover how to lay out stones to form neat, even rows and patterns with the correct tolerances for setting; drilling and opening holes to fit the stones precisely; raising grains to secure each stone in place; and bright-cutting borders and finishing to give your piece that professional sparkle.

We'll be working with traditional hand tools and techniques throughout. This not only strengthens your skills and deepens your understanding of the process, but also means you'll be able to go on and practise and perfect your technique afterwards using affordable equipment of your own.

By the end of the day you'll have set a full field of pavé using traditional tools and techniques, setting your stones into a silver ring provided on the day. These are techniques you can apply across a huge range of jewellery designs — pavé your pieces in fine diamonds or other stones to create beautiful, stone-covered pieces of your own.

All materials and tools for the class are provided on the day, with the option to order specialist tools afterwards if you'd like to keep practising at home.

Experience required:

This class is designed for those with basic or intermediate jewellery making experience who want to build their knowledge of traditional stone setting skills. Some previous stone setting experience would be an advantage, but it isn't a requirement — everyone is welcome.
