This three day course with professional stone setter Stephen Barnett explores setting different shaped stones into both rub-over and claw settings. Each day focuses on one shape of setting, progressing to harder shapes on each occasion – day 1: setting brilliant cut stones into round rub-over and claw set castings, day 2: setting princess cut stones into square rub-over and claw set castings and day 3: setting marquise cut stones into rub-over and claw set castings.
By the end of the three days students will go home with the knowledge and confidence to be able to set stones to a professional standard using both burrs and traditional scorpers. These three setting shapes will give students a level of skill that will be applicable to all commonly used stone shapes.
The rub-over collets are mounted on bands that students can then convert into a set of stacking rings if they wish. The claw set collets are cast with jump rings attached and at the end of the course these can form either a three-tier necklace or be used as individual pendants.
All tools, consumables, silver castings an CZ gemstones are included in the course fee.
